Google Researcher Program
Please note: You will be asked to sign-in to a Google account when you start filling out the application. For applications that meet the eligibility criteria of the researcher program, data access and/or related permissions will be provided through the Google Account you designate.
We recommend using a Google Account linked to your organization's email address for any data access activities such as scraping. If your organization does not have a Google account, you can use your existing institutional email address to create a Google Account.
Note: If you do not have a Google account or an email address, you can create a new Google account with a new Gmail email address. We strongly recommend against using your personal email address and/or personal Google account for accessing data under this program.
An approved application will receive permissions and access to data through the following ways. The access is conditional on complying with the Acceptable Use Policy for the Google Researcher Program and any applicable terms of service for the individual service / platform.
- Maps: Access to public data through a cloud-based solution
- Play: Permission for limited scraping
- Search: Access to an API for limited scraping with a budget for quota
- Shopping: Permission for limited scraping
- YouTube: Permission for limited scraping
- Waze: Access to public data through a cloud-based solution
More instructions will be provided to applicants when they submit complete applications that meet the eligibility criteria. Information submitted as part of this application process will be handled in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.
